A strategic priority becomes real only when somebody owns it and the organisation knows what has to happen next. “Improve sales”, “implement ERP” or “reduce costs” are directions, not execution plans.
Break the priority into outcomes, workstreams, milestones, dependencies and owners. Establish a review rhythm around exceptions and decisions. A good project management system does not create bureaucracy — it gives management visibility over whether important work is actually moving.
